- 【雲上嶺南】The Consul General of Greece in Guangzhou loves the unique "blank space" of Chinese paintings
Guangdong is a major province of intangible cultural heritage in China. Throughout history, the Lingnan culture with distinctive civilian characteristics, international exchanges, and mutual learning has been formed in Guangdong.
Recently, we invited some consulate officials who live and work in Guangzhou to share their experiences and feelings about the traditional Chinese culture and art and the Lingnan intangible cultural heritage.
Consul General of Greece in Guangzhou Martinos Mandalidis said ："Recently, I attended an exhibition in the Guangzhou branch of Rong Bao Zhai (Studio of Glorious Treasures), enjoying different kinds of intangible cultural heritage from China and Guangdong, such as tea ceremonies and incense burning."
The Greek diplomat also said:"It's very difficult for me to choose a favorite cultural category but I find a very interesting point in Chinese painting—"blank space" (which is called LiuBai). The blank space becomes an integral part of the whole painting, which is completely different from the traditional painting in western countries."
